Unirope Ltd., a specialist in wire rope and rigging products, has announced the election of its President, Justin Brown, to the management board of the International Organization for the Study of Ropes (OIPEEC).
OIPEEC is a global association dedicated to advancing the understanding of wire and fiber ropes, boasting a diverse membership including scientists, experts, manufacturers, and users. Their focus spans various applications such as elevators, cranes, and industrial ropes.
Justin Brown has been actively involved with OIPEEC since February 2023 as a co-opted member and has now been elected as a full member during the recent OIPEEC conference held in Bardolino, Italy, in April. Joining him on the board are industry stalwarts Amy Jenkins of Teijin Aramid, and Prof. Dr. Ing. Ulrich Briem of OTH Regensburg. The reshuffle also sees Sven Winter of Rotec GmbH taking on the presidency role.
“We believe that it is not enough to participate in the fruits of an industry without giving an equal amount back. That is why we have taken the approach of being very active in our sector and contribute wherever we can,” Brown commented. “We sit on various boards and standards writing organizations and are involved with — and contribute to — many technical committees.”
Unirope’s commitment to industry advancement extends beyond OIPEEC, with Brown's involvement in standards writing with CSA Group and ASME. Additionally, the company actively participates in various industry associations such as ACRP, WSTDA, Cordage Institute, IHSA and LEEA.
Unirope operates nationwide with facilities in Ontario, Quebec, and Alberta, serving customers across the U.S. and Europe.
