Unirope Expands Wire Rope Line for Crane Applications
Unirope has added Python DynamiQ wire rope for crane applications in infrastructure, energy and heavy construction.
Unirope Limited has expanded its product range with Python DynamiQ, a non-rotating wire rope designed for demanding crane applications in infrastructure, energy and heavy construction.
According to the company, Python DynamiQ was developed to address performance demands in construction crane applications involving extreme loads and lifting heights, where traditional rotation-resistant ropes can face limitations. The rope is designed for use as a hoist rope across crawler cranes, tower cranes and mobile cranes.
DynamiQ is part of the Python high-performance wire rope family and is manufactured in Germany. Unirope, based in Mississauga, said the product was developed with more than a century of wire rope expertise behind it.
The rope uses a 16-strand compacted outer layer combined with a reinforced core. Unirope said this design improves torque balance and structural stability while reducing internal movement and stress concentrations under load. Compared with traditional 35x7 constructions, DynamiQ is intended to provide improved performance in both single-fall and multi-fall reeving applications.
In single-fall applications, the rope is designed to work with swivels while resisting rotation. In multi-fall reeving, Unirope said the rope helps maintain stability and reduce issues such as block twisting and rope waviness.
Justin Brown, president of Unirope Limited, said: “DynamiQ allows us to bring a higher level of performance to Canadian crane operators, especially in particularly challenging sectors, where demands continue to increase. It gives our customers access to one of the most advanced non-rotating ropes available globally, backed by local expertise and support. This equates to more uptime, longer service life and more confidence in critical lifts.
“Just as importantly, it means they’re supported by a Canadian partner who understands their applications and can respond quickly with inventory, technical guidance and service. We don’t just supply rope; we help customers select the right solution, optimize performance and solve problems in the field. With DynamiQ, we’re pairing a premium product with a service model that’s been trusted across Canada for decades.”
Unirope said torque control is one of the rope’s key features, particularly in applications involving high lifting heights or single-fall reeving. The rope is also designed for multi-layer spooling, where crushing, abrasion and deformation can occur. According to the company, DynamiQ is built for lateral stability and resistance to ovalization and diameter reduction under load, helping it maintain shape across multiple layers on crane drums.
Brown added: “In testing, DynamiQ shows up to a 10% increase in breaking strength and up to a 20% improvement in bending fatigue life. That translates directly into longer rope life, fewer changeouts, and more predictable performance.
“Unirope has been a leader in the Canadian wire rope market since 1956. Over that time, we’ve built our reputation on quality, technical expertise and understanding real-world applications. DynamiQ continues that approach by bringing the latest global innovation to Canadian customers, backed by local knowledge and service. The message is simple: performance matters. As lifting applications become more demanding, the rope can’t be the weak link. DynamiQ represents a step forward in performance and Unirope’s commitment to bringing that level of innovation to the Canadian market.”
