Truck Crane Breakthrough

The Fassi F2350RL-HXP Techno knuckleboom crane is a platform for the next generation of heavy lifting

Behind the design of the new Fassi F2350RL-HXP Techno knuckleboom crane, according to Jason Harlow, Fassi product manager at Fascan International, is the convergence of engineering, technology and innovation.

“At first glance, the Fassi F2350RL-HXP Techno might appear to be just another truck-mounted crane,” Harlow said. “But it stands apart not only as the most powerful unit Fassi has ever built, but also as their first knuckleboom crane to feature a double jib and 19 hydraulic extensions. This isn’t merely an upgrade; it represents a true leap forward in capability.”

Engineered for installation on vehicles of around 42 tons, the stowed length of the Fassi F2350RL-HXP Techno remains under 33 feet. For operators, Harlow noted, that balance between compact dimensions and reach enhances both maneuverability and performance.

At the core of the F2350RL-HXP Techno is advanced technological architecture. For example, Harlow pointed to the crane’s X-Design decagonal boom section that optimizes load distribution and reduces weight without compromising strength.

“The result is superior lifting capability, especially in vertical orientations where stress can otherwise undermine performance,” Harlow said. “This crane is also the first model in its range to apply X-Design technology to the hydraulic jib.”

The new Fassi F2350RL-HXP Techno features the Fassi FX990 electronic control system. “Paired with integrated machine control and the Fassi FX991 touchscreen interface, the FX990 enables highly responsive, intuitive motion management,” Harlow explained. “The result is a blend of power and precision that enhances both operational efficiency and on-site safety.”

Another key feature of the F2350RL-HXP Techno is the FSC Techno (Fassi Stability Control) system, which intelligently adapts the crane’s stability to both site conditions and operator preferences. The system’s adaptability, Harlow noted, acknowledges that no two jobsites are the same. Whether operating on uneven ground or in tight spaces, it helps sustain performance while maintaining a focus on safety.

At the core of the F2350RL-HXP Techno knuckleboom is an X-Design decagonal boom section that optimizes load distribution and reduces weight without compromising strength. Hydraulic performance is enhanced through Fassi’s XF (Extra Fast) system and a D900 digital distributor, which collectively refine fluid management across the crane’s 19 extension stages.

“Hydraulic performance in the F2350RL-HXP Techno is enhanced through Fassi’s XF (Extra Fast) system and a D900 digital distributor, which collectively refine fluid management across the crane’s multiple extension stages,” Harlow explained. “Faster response times, smoother articulation and more efficient energy usage across 19 hydraulic extensions compound into significant gains in operational control and cycle efficiency.

“All of this integration fundamentally changes the operator’s experience,” Harlow continued. “Movements become smoother, load transitions more controlled and complex multi-extension operations more intuitive. The machine effectively becomes more responsive to the operator’s intent, reducing fatigue and improving consistency in demanding environments.”

The Fassi F2350RL-HXP Techno is positioned at the extreme upper end of the knuckleboom category. The crane’s maximum outreach exceeds 170 feet, while lifting capacity reaches approximately 66,138 pounds in optimal configurations. The system also enables tip heights approaching 190 feet, depending on setup.

“The Fassi F2350RL-HXP Techno reflects a shift in lifting technology, where precision, adaptability and connectivity are as essential as raw power,” Harlow stated. “Designed for versatility beyond specialized applications through a convergence of mechanical engineering, software intelligence and connectivity, it aims to establish a new benchmark for operators, engineers and fleet owners regarding expectations for high-capacity mobile lifting systems.”

The Fassi F2350RL-HXP Techno, along with the complete Fassi line of cranes, is available in the United States through Fascan International’s nationwide network of dealers.
