TransWorld Manufacturing Company, a prominent player in the crane, lifting and heavy haul industries, has declared a "last call" for new orders and disclosed its intention to embrace open-source technology. The company, headquartered in Las Vegas, will no longer accept new orders, focusing instead on fulfilling existing orders while transitioning its operations toward open sourcing its technology.
The shift toward open sourcing involves making the company's entire range of designs for spreader bars, lifting beams, outrigger mats, baskets and boom dollies available to interested parties for a nominal fee. Through an upcoming online campaign, individuals and businesses will have the opportunity to access and download TransWorld's proven technology, which the company believes will facilitate wider access to safe and reliable solutions while encouraging further development and enhancement within the industry.
"We are excited to announce the transition towards open sourcing our technology for the heavy lift and heavy haul industry," said Crystal Dieleman, President of TransWorld Manufacturing. "By making our designs available, we aim to empower individuals and organizations with the tools they need to innovate and drive positive change within the industry.”
The company is promising customers that current orders will be fulfilled, despite the decision not to accept new orders. TransWorld remains operational as it completes existing production orders and continues to provide support for its equipment in the field, along with honoring warranty obligations.
