Tadano Launches 160-USt Teleboom Crawler Crane
Sept. 1, 2021 - The Tadano Group has launched its all-new GTC-1600, a 160-USt teleboom crawler crane.
In addition to 160-USt capacity, the new model offers 200’ of main boom and out-of-level operation on slopes to 4º.
The GTC-1600’s Opti-Width flexible track positioning permits limitless combinations of symmetric and asymmetric track width setups with no need to pin the track frames in fixed positions.
An innovative hydraulic system makes for smooth, seamless multi-function operation, allowing travel, hoisting, and boom telescoping all at the same time. These longer, smarter and stronger capabilities make the GTC-1600 well-suited for a variety of construction and specialty lift work applications, while expanding the GTC product line to seven models.

The GTC-1600’s purpose-built design offers operators higher and longer capabilities for lift work, while also enabling out-of-level and pick-and-carry work for infrastructure development, wind power support, general construction, and a wide range of other applications.
Reaching New Heights 
The six-section boom extends from 42.8’ to 200.1’ — the longest of any teleboom crawler crane with a capacity less than 250 USt. The reliable single-cylinder telescoping and pinning system extends and retracts all sections automatically and can be locked in selected working positions.
For even more reach, Tadano offers a 33.8’-59.1’ bi-fold jib that can be offset by up to 40°. A jib length of up to 105’ is possible by adding two 23’ lattice inserts. The maximum jib tip height is 305’. Also, an optional 11.8’ heavy-lift jib that can be offset 20° or 40° is ideal for tilt-up work in tight spaces.
Industry-Leading Smart Technology
The GTC-1600 has a comprehensive control system whose enhanced interface enables the operator to easily monitor nearly every aspect of the crane on a single full-color display. On-screen warnings, operator-definable working zones, end-of-zone soft stops, and automatic switching for out-of-level load charts for slopes up to 4º reinforce safety. Control settings can be adjusted for operator preference.
Plenty of Power
The dual-certified US EPA Tier 4F/Euromot Stage V Cummins B6.7 diesel engine delivers 326 hp at 2,200 rpm and 1,014 lb.-ft. of torque at 1,500 rpm. Multiple throttle control modes give flexibility and save fuel. In addition, the travel system’s two-speed track drives enable travel at up to 1.5 mph and a maximum unladen gradeability of 52%.
Optimized Design for Flexibility and Performance
Tadano’s patented Opti-Width system provides the maximum available lifting capacity in limitless combinations of symmetric and asymmetric track widths and eliminates the need to pin the track frames in fixed positions. That means that even on the most challenging job sites with restricted space for set up, the operator can quickly change the track width to the requirements of the terrain – and still get the best performance.
Fast from Truck to Task
The sets up easily without an assist crane. Its remotely controlled self-erecting counterweights and integrated two-stage carbody jacks streamline the time it takes to get the crane from truck to task. Hydraulic quick couplers on the track drive hoses enable simple, tool-free track frame removal and handling.
Optimized for transport, the base crane weighs less than 96,000 lbs. and can get to and from job sites on a single, low-bed truck. The remaining components can be hauled on four or fewer standard trucks.
Hello-Net Telematics Web Service
Tadano’s Hello-Net telematics web information service records the crane's operating status using mobile communications, as well as positional information via GPS and maintenance data. Tadano shares information about the product in use and offers advanced customer support and service.
Hello-Data Link Smartphone App
Hello-Data Link connects cranes to mobile devices via wireless LAN, allowing users to receive operating status, indications, error codes, and other information in real time from outside the cab to help streamline crane maintenance.
