The Electric Utility Fleet Managers Conference (EUFMC) 2024 is fast approaching, and it’s shaping up to be an essential event for professionals in the utility fleet industry. Set in the event’s usual picturesque surroundings of Williamsburg, Virginia, this year’s conference promises to deliver a wealth of knowledge, networking opportunities, and the latest best practices in fleet management.
Showcasing the Latest Fleet Equipment and Services
As the electric utility sector continues to evolve, ESG goals, fleet technology and workforce development have become key focus areas. EUFMC 2024 will showcase technologies and practices that not only enhance operational efficiency but also contribute to sustainability and safety.
On Monday, June 3, a drive-through utility equipment demonstration will take place and an equipment show will follow that afternoon. The outdoor show is the site of more than 60 displays with manufacturers and vendors ready to talk with fleet management professionals.
EUFMC 2024 will also feature an extensive equipment show, where the latest vehicles, tools, and services will be on display. This hands-on experience allows fleet managers to see the newest innovations in action and evaluate their potential impact on their operations.
From cranes and aerial devices to maintenance equipment and software solutions, the equipment show is a highlight for all who attend.
Educational Sessions and Expert Panels
From Tuesday, June 4 to Wednesday, June 5, EUFMC 2024 will feature a series of educational sessions led by industry experts, thought leaders, and key decision-makers. These sessions are designed to provide valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities facing utility fleet management today.
On the EUFMC General Session Agenda (subject to change) are the following topics: safety and leadership, regulatory updates, fleet EV charging, 2027 diesel engine mandates, AI opportunities in fleet, technician recruiting and retention, EV maintenance, cost and acceptance, mutual assistance planning for fleet managers, and fleet culture.
The keynote address for the conference will be given by Mathias Carlbaum, president and chief executive officer of Navistar, Inc.
Networking and Collaboration Opportunities
The conference will bring together fleet professionals, vendors, and service providers from across the nation. One of the hallmarks of EUFMC is the unique opportunity it offers for fleet managers and others in the industry to network and collaborate during roundtable discussions.
During these sessions, fleet representatives and suppliers draw from mutual challenges to find and consider new solutions.
Dinner Speaker: Former Astronaut Shane Kimbrough
Shane Kimbrough, vice president of strategic operations at Quanta Services and a former NASA astronaut, will serve as the dinner speaker during the 2024 EUFMC. Kimbrough will bring a unique perspective to EUFMC in a presentation on several topics that reflect his role at Quanta Services and his U.S. Army and NASA experience.
Selected by NASA in 2004, he has made two spaceflights to the International Space Station (ISS) and served as commander of the NASA/SpaceX Crew-2 Dragon spacecraft. He is the fourth person to fly on three different spacecraft and is fifth on the list for total time in space for all U.S. astronauts.
Looking Ahead
EUFMC will also feature the second annual Women in Utility Fleet gathering and special activities, including tours, golf outings, events for spouses, and more.
Overall, the event promises to deliver valuable insights, foster meaningful connections, and inspire the next wave of advancements in utility fleet management.
