SC&RA Releases Forklift Rigging Attachments Training Material
September 1, 2004 - Designed to help employers meet application-specific training as required by OSHA, the Specialized Carriers & Rigging Association, Fairfax, Va., recently released a 15-minute video for industrial lift trucks used in rigging applications.
The type of lift trucks most commonly used in the rigging industry include Classes IV, V, and VI machines, such as specialty lift trucks with solid tires, industrial crane trucks, and hydraulic gantry lifts.
The training material covers common types of attachments used for rigging including lift booms, personnel baskets, and fork extensions. It also addresses the standards and regulatory guidelines for making modifications to a lift truck and using homemade attachments, practices that are often unavoidable in the rigging industry. Details such as how the use of attachments affect load capacity, machine stability, and axle loads are also covered in the material.
Employers will appreciate tools such as a job site safety checklist and a quiz, which are included in the workbook.
The video is available to SC&RA members for $95 and to non-members for $125. In DVD format it is $125 for members and $155 for non-members. For more information, go to www.scranet.org .
