Phoenix Crane Service, established in 1982, is undergoing a remarkable transformation under new president Mike Knott.
Once a traditional crane rental provider, the company now embraces a modernized fleet and progressive approach to meet the evolving demands of the crane and rigging industry across Atlanta and beyond.
Since 2019, Knott has been instrumental in redesigning Phoenix Crane’s fleet, shifting from simply replacing older machines to strategically expanding with cutting-edge equipment.
“Our fleet evolution reflects our dedication to providing the best solutions for our customers and staying ahead of market trends,” Knott said.
“Each new addition is carefully selected based on criteria such as performance, reliability and the ability to meet specific project requirements.”
In 2024, the company reentered the crawler crane market, adding its largest crawler yet, the Liebherr LR1300.1 SX, along with other advanced models like the Link-Belt 298 Series II and Liebherr LR1250.
Justin Mhoon, crane specialist at Phoenix Crane. said having an updated fleet allows them to minimize downtime and maximize utilization.
“The reliability of a good working fleet and proper planning is the only way to accomplish our daily goals,” Mhoon said.
The improvements made to its fleet are recognized by general contractors and continue to provide new opportunities to meet customer needs.
Phoenix Crane also introduced its largest all-terrain crane to date, the Liebherr LTM 1350-6.1, and plans to debut innovative mobile tower cranes from Liebherr’s MK series. These additions help the company meet diverse customer needs while minimizing downtime.
Knott recognizes that the future of the industry depends on a skilled workforce.
To address this, Phoenix Crane is investing in employee development and training to ensure continued growth. The company is also actively engaged in promoting industry careers to younger generations through various initiatives.
As the crane and rigging industry evolves, Phoenix Crane aims to remain a solutions-driven leader. By offering additional services such as storage, hauling, and project management, the company is positioning itself for sustained success and contributing to the broader growth of the industry.
