New Shorty Boom Truck Helps Landscaper Branch Out Into Tree Care
June 14, 2021 - Since opening in 1987, Frank Chiaravalloti Landscape Contractor, Waltham, Massachusetts, has offered landscaping services throughout Massachusetts.
The company’s services include, masonry, paving, excavation, trucking, lawn mowing, weeding, irrigation, fertilizing, and now tree care and crane service.
When owner Frank Chiaravalloti recently decided to add tree care and crane services to the company’s repertoire, he bought a new 2021 Manitex TC45127 Shorty boom truck from Empire Crane Company.
“I’m trying to expand my business into tree work,” Chiaravalloti said. “It’ll benefit my customers and will widen the array of services we offer.”
He decided to buy a Manitex because the price fit his budget and because Empire Crane, the servicing dealer, is nearby.
The new Manitex TC45127 Shorty is mounted on a 2022 Kenworth T880 chassis with a 485-hp Paccar engine and features a short sub-frame, 45-ton capacity, 127’ telescopic boom, radio-controlled outriggers, tilting cab, air conditioning and heat.
Manitex offers “shorty” models of their boom trucks to benefit customers who need maximum mobility. “We work in tight neighborhoods as well as open spaces, so it’ll be helpful to have the ‘shorty’ version,” said Chiaravalloti.
Justin Melvin, general manager of Empire Crane New England, “Since the shorty
option has been available, 90% of the new boom trucks we’ve sold have been shorties. It just makes sense for our New England customers who are working in the city some days and the backwoods on others.”
