The American Reliability & Maintenance Institute (ARMI) is offering a new training program for crane and equipment maintenance professionals focused on turning performance data into action.

The Certified Maintenance Data Analyst (CMDA) course is scheduled for June 24–27, 2025, in Oklahoma City. It is geared toward those managing cranes, transport fleets and related assets, teaching attendees how to identify trends and inefficiencies using data they already collect.

“Most teams collect mountains of maintenance data but don’t know how to actually use it,” said Justin Smith, ARMI co-founder. “The CMDA program shows you how to connect the dots and uncover what’s working, what’s wasting time and how to fix it.”

Participants will learn how to calculate metrics like mean time between failures (MTBF), mean time to repair (MTTR), and how to visualize and report that data to decision-makers. The four-day course is open to asset managers, schedulers and anyone responsible for uptime on heavy lifting equipment.

“This course and certification were designed with real teams in mind,” added ARMI co-founder Dr. John Ross. “Students walk away with tools they can start using immediately.”
