October 15, 2026 - Manitowoc has launched its upFLEX Rated Capacity Limiter (RCL), a load management system designed to replace older iFLEX units on Grove rough-terrain and truck cranes manufactured between 2002 and 2023. The system was introduced at CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2026 and is available through Manitowoc's global dealer network.

Manitowoc estimates that approximately 13,000 machines could be eligible for the upgrade, which allows owners to update their cranes' load management technology while continuing to use existing equipment.

The upFLEX system features a 7-inch console with controls that allow operators to navigate working screens and operating modes. It is designed to work across the range of Grove rough-terrain and truck cranes previously supported by older iFLEX models, providing a standardized interface across eligible machines.

Installation is designed to be simplified through a direct connection to the crane's CAN bus via onboard Ethernet. Manitowoc describes the system as plug-and-play, allowing operators to transition to the updated technology while maintaining a familiar interface.

“We’re excited to bring the upFLEX RCL to market. We got lots of interest from visitors when we introduced the unit at CONEXPO 2026, and we know customers want to extend the life of their proven and capable Grove cranes – upgrading with upFLEX is a great way to do that. The plug-and-play design allows owners to harness the latest load management technology in a fast and straightforward way,” said Matt Wong, VP of customer support at Manitowoc.

The upFLEX RCL replaces the iFLEX5 (LI5G), iFLEX5 (CGMK), and iFLEX2 (LSQG) systems. Customers can purchase the upgrade through their local Grove dealer.
