At bauma 2025, Liebherr-Werk Ehingen GmbH and Swedish simulator developer Tenstar Simulation announced an expanded partnership to further develop their mobile crane simulator, which has been available since 2024. The collaboration aims to enhance 4D operator training and support workforce development across the crane industry.

The simulator, which enables hands-on training without tying up actual equipment, received significant attention at bauma, resulting in numerous new orders.

“We have worked with Tenstar on an equal footing from the very beginning and are delighted to continue this partnership in the future,” said Daniel Pitzer, commercial director at Liebherr in Ehingen.

The simulator allows operators to practice lifting, telescoping, luffing and turning using a fully immersive setup. The equipment includes three screens, a master switch, a seat mounted on a motion platform and VR goggles. The program is available in 25 languages and features tutorials for various crane operations.

“Our aim is to create a simulated crane world with Liebherr and various other crane models,” said Freddy Lund, CEO of Tenstar Simulation.

Currently, the simulator models operations using the LTM 1060-3.1 and has recently added functions for crane setup, including attaching and detaching the hook block assembly.

“At bauma, we noticed an enormous rush for our simulator. Customers were enthusiastic and surprised at how far development has already progressed,” said Julian Rapp, product manager at Liebherr. “Our customers are very interested in the simulator.”

The simulator supports sustainability goals by using electric power, contributing to a reduced carbon footprint and enhancing jobsite safety by reducing training-related risks.
