Harry K. Baker, the visionary founder and owner of Southwest Industrial Rigging, passed away on Thanksgiving morning on Nov. 28, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 72 years old.
A pioneer in professional crane rental services, Baker built Southwest Industrial Rigging into a powerhouse with locations in Phoenix, Tucson, Flagstaff and Farmington, New Mexico. His commitment to excellence and the philosophy of “Do It Right the First Time” earned him respect and admiration across the industry.
Born Feb. 22, 1952, in Mesa, AZ, to Elvis LeRoy and Betty Ann Baker, Harry was known for his integrity and determination to tackle any challenge, no matter the complexity or time required.
Harry is survived by his wife, Paulett, their three daughters, Kelly Baker-Stefanow, Lindsay Baker, and Casey Baker, along with two grandsons and a granddaughter. Paulett Baker will now lead Southwest Industrial Rigging as President, ensuring Harry’s legacy endures.
His passing leaves a void, but the impact he made on the industry and the values he instilled will continue to inspire. Harry’s light will shine on through his family and the company he built.
