The Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM), joined by nearly 40 member companies and partners, hosted the 2025 Celebration of Construction on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. Held May 14–16, the event spotlighted innovations in construction equipment, including cranes and lifting machinery, to highlight the industry’s role in infrastructure and workforce development.
More than 15,000 people, including lawmakers, federal officials, students and families, attended the three-day event. Over 80 machines were displayed, including cranes from manufacturers such as Liebherr USA, JLG Industries, Link-Belt Excavators and SANY America.
The event also marked the informal launch of National Off-Road Equipment Manufacturing Day on May 14, in recognition of the equipment manufacturing workforce and the contributions of the industry to the U.S. economy. AEM’s Manufacturing Express was stationed on the Mall and offered attendees interactive opportunities to learn about equipment careers and support the I Make America initiative.
“This event is a powerful reminder of how essential the construction equipment industry is in building a stronger America,” said Megan Tanel, president and CEO of AEM. “From creating roads and bridges to powering clean energy projects, our industry is transforming how we build, and we’re proud to tell that story here to the public and federal lawmakers on the National Mall.”
Crane manufacturers were among more than two dozen exhibiting companies and organizations at the event. The gathering also drew over 30 members of Congress and representatives from agencies including the U.S. Department of Transportation and the Department of Labor.
“This year’s Celebration of Construction demonstrated what’s possible when manufacturers, workers, and policymakers come together,” said John Somers, vice president of construction and utility sectors for AEM. “By spotlighting our industry’s innovations and emphasizing the challenges we face, we’re building momentum to solve real challenges that will promote a stronger, safer, and more sustainable construction industry.”
The event helped reinforce connections between crane manufacturers, federal decision-makers and the broader construction equipment sector.
