Cattron has launched the Tyro 2x2, a radio remote control system designed for overhead cranes, hoists, jib cranes and monorail systems.

The system pairs Musca 2S handheld transmitters with an AC-powered receiver to deliver two-motion, two-speed control. It is available in four configurations, allowing users to select combinations of motion and speed control based on application requirements.

Each Tyro 2x2 package includes two transmitters and a compact receiver, with wireless pairing enabling setup in approximately 15 minutes. The system is designed to reduce installation complexity and commissioning time.

A distinguishing feature of the Tyro 2x2 is its AC-driven receiver with potential-free dry contact relays, which are commonly required in crane and hoist systems. This configuration eliminates the need for additional interface hardware.

“The Tyro 2x2 represents exactly the kind of compact, rugged solution for smaller lifting applications, like jib cranes and monorail systems, our customers have been asking for,” said Brian Fette, Cattron VP of engineering and product management. “OEMs and distributors in the crane and lifting market now have a complete, standardized package backed by Cattron’s global engineering expertise in radio remote control.”

The Musca 2S transmitters are designed for use in industrial environments, with IP67-rated housings that protect against dust and moisture. Additional features include tactile controls, LED indicators and audible feedback to support operation in challenging conditions.

Adaptive Frequency Protocols are used to maintain stable wireless performance, particularly in environments with potential signal interference.

“The industry needs reliable two-speed control in a package that is easy to deploy and built to perform in rugged environments,” said Rebecca Weber, product manager for Cattron’s industrial solutions. “With four standard configurations and a 15-minute setup, the Tyro 2x2 makes professional-grade hoist control accessible to operations that previously had to compromise on capability or complexity.”

Cattron will showcase the Tyro 2x2 at the AIST Crane Symposium, taking place June 8 to 10 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where the company is also serving as an event sponsor.
