Oct. 3, 2023 - Bigge Crane and Rigging Co. is awaiting delivery of its first all-electric crawler crane, a Liebherr LR 1250.1 unplugged.
When it arrives this month, the new Liebherr will join Bigge’s nationwide fleet of more than 1,800 cranes.
The LR 1250.1 unplugged is the first of its type on the U.S. West Coast.
Bigge is adding the all-electric crane to meet the needs of customers who want an environmentally conscious heavy-lifting solution.
The 275-USt capacity crane can work for an average of eight hours on its batteries, or can work for unlimited time when plugged into shore power.
"We have a longstanding, successful relationship with the team at Liebherr and are excited to add their first all-electric crawler crane to our Perfect Fleet," said Joe Nelms, vice president and chief business development officer of Bigge Crane and Rigging Co.
Liebherr and Bigge say that the LR 1250.1 unplugged crane delivers the same operating performance as its diesel-powered counterpart, sporting the same 275-USt lifting capacity, hoisting speed (up to 446 ft/min), and maximum vertical reach (486’).
It gives customers the ability to reduce their project's carbon footprint without affecting productivity.
The electric powertrain, drastically reduces noise to less than 101 dBA, comparable to a household lawnmower or kitchen blender.
That makes it ideal for metropolitan areas or other environments particularly sensitive to noise.
The LR 1250.1 unplugged also comes with all of the latest innovations, technology, and safety features customers and operators expect from Liebherr, including its newly redesigned cab with optimized visibility and enhanced lift assistance systems.
Bigge's Liebherr LR 1250.1 unplugged will be arriving in California later this month.
"Bigge's roots have been established in the San Francisco Bay Area since 1916, and we're excited to be a part of California's push for a greener future," said Nelms.
