Approximately 50 Liebherr mobile cranes with three to six axles are slated for delivery to various locations in Germany to the network of Herrmann & Wittrock, Titschkus & Wittrock, Ulferts, and Ulferts & Wittrock.
“These three independent groups of companies have traditionally worked closely together: the Wittrock Group, the Ulferts Group and the Ulferts & Wittrock Group,” said Temmo Niekamp, who is Managing Director of the Ulferts Group alongside Hermann.
Focusing on fleet modernization, the network routinely acquires mobile cranes from Liebherr. Their latest procurement involves about 50 cranes from the LTM series, ranging from three to five axles, as well as units from the compact LTC 1050-3.1.
“We want to impress our customers by using modern equipment. It’s therefore important for us to regularly procure new cranes that are at the cutting edge of mobile crane technology. Liebherr has been a trustworthy partner for us for many years. We decided to go ahead with the new purchases, even though the current economic trends in Germany are not viewed positively. However, we are taking a long-term approach and showing courage and confidence in our industry,” Marcus Wittrock said.
Oliver Herrmann added, “New cranes also relieve the burden on the workshops in the branches. We are currently replacing cranes built in 2019. This means that hardly any of our cranes are more than four years old. Demand for new cranes also arises due to new projects and site expansions, such as in Bayreuth and Schwedt, as well as new locations, including Halle.”
The recent orders encompass mobile cranes outfitted with the new LICCON3 control system: the LTM 1100-5.3 and LTM 1110-5.2 models, equipped with features such as a chassis-centralized lubrication system, LED driving lights, remote key-operated central locking, rear-view cameras, and enhanced lighting.
The network boasts a rich heritage dating back to 1909, when Hermann Titschkus initiated a haulage business with a horse and cart. Crane rental commenced in 1970 with Mennen & Wittrock's establishment, followed by Ulferts GmbH two years later. In 1989, Ulferts & Wittrock expanded the group. Subsequent years witnessed various startups and acquisitions, with the addition of work platforms and forklifts in 2002. Presently, the group's numerous entities, spread across Germany, operate a fleet of over 200 mobile cranes with capacities ranging from 30 to 700 metric tons, along with crawler cranes handling 130 to 650 metric tons, predominantly sourced from Liebherr. Additionally, the fleet comprises approximately 3,500 units, including work platforms, forklifts, telescopic handlers, and heavy-duty trucks.
